
NDA Exam comprises two stages.
- STAGE I: WRITTEN TEST
- STAGE II: SSB INTERVIEWS (INTELLIGENCE & PERSONALITY TEST)
STAGE I: WRITTEN TEST
The entrance for NDA comprises a Written Exam followed by SSB Interviews. The details follow:

NDA STAGE II: INTELLIGENCE & PERSONALITY TEST (SSB INTERVIEWS)
The SSB Procedure comprises two stage selection process -Stage I and Stage II.
STAGE –I
This stage comprises the following set of activities.
- Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test
- Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT)
After all candidates have undergone stage I, the results are declared on the basis of the combined performance in OIR Test and PP&DT.
Recommended candidates are retained for stage-II testing while others are sent back.
STAGE -II
It comprises Psychological tests, Group tests, and Group tasks. These tests are conducted over four consecutive days.
- Psychological Tests comprise a) Thematic Apperception Test b) Word Association Test c) Situation Reaction Test and d) Self Description Test.
- Group Tests comprise a) Group Discussion b) Group Planning Exercise c) Progressive Group Task d) Group Obstacle Race e) Half Group Task and f) Lecturette.
- Group Tasks comprise a) Individual Obstacles b) Command Task and c) Final Group Task.
The Personality of a candidate is assessed by the three different assessors viz. The Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO), and the Psychologist. There is no separate weightage for each test. The marks are allotted only after taking into consideration the performance of the candidate holistically in all the tests. The various tests are desigtned to bring out the presence/absence of Officer like Qualities and their trainability in a candidate.
