IPUCET 2017 Analysis

IP University conducted the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to its various LAW programmes on May 6th, 2017. The total duration of the exam was 150 minutes and the medium of paper was English. The paper had four sections viz., English language & Comprehension, General Knowledge, Reasoning, Legal Aptitude There were 150 objective type questions. Each question had four options of which only one was correct. Each correct response fetched four marks and each incorrect response attracted a penalty of one mark, however there was no penalty for unattempted questions.

The pattern of the paper remained unchanged and the weightage given to various sections was as follows:

  1. English Language and Comprehension- 25%
  2. General Knowledge- 25%
  3. Reasoning- 25%
  4. Legal Aptitude- 25%

Let us now have a look at various section:

English Language and Comprehension

The difficulty level of the questions was easy. There were 38 questions in this section. The usual question types viz., parts of speech, sentence correction, comprehension, vocabulary etc were there. The questions were direct in nature and a serious test-taker could have easily attempted 31-33 questions.

General Knowledge

This section was a little on the tougher side as far as the difficulty level of the questions is concerned. The questions were from both the areas – Static GK and the current affairs. There were more number of questions on static Gk because of which the paper became relatively tougher, however the questions on current affairs were mostly easy. An attempt of 26-27 questions can be considered as a good attempt.

Reasoning

The Reasoning section had most of the questions as easy ones. This section had questions from the areas like coding-decoding, cubes, arrangement, analogies, Analytical Reasoning. Although, logical reasoning was there but the number of questions were fewer. An attempt of 30-32 out of a total of 38 questions may be considered a good attempt in this section.

Legal Aptitude

The difficulty level of this section was again easy. Most of the questions were based on legal reasoning and the questions on Legal GK were very few. An attempt of 29-31 out of a total 37 questions can be considered a good attempt.

Overall, the difficulty level was easy-moderate and an attempt of 114-119 can be considered as a good attempt.
