Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national level examination conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) by the Government of India.
The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of candidates in various undergraduate subjects in Engineering / Technology / Architecture and Post-Graduate level subjects in Science. The GATE score is used for admissions into Post-Graduate programs (M.E., M.Tech., direct Ph.D.) in Indian institutes of higher education with financial assistance provided by MHRD and other Government agencies. The score is also used by many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment.
The results for GATE 2017 examination were declared on 26th March. A total of 9,22,167 candidates had registered for GATE 2017 out of which 7,87,148 candidates appeared for the examination.
The examination was conducted in 195 cities comprising GATE 2017 Exam Centres with a total of more than 680 test centres, across 26 states and union territories of the country. GATE 2017 was also held for international candidates in Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E), Bangladesh, Ethiopia. Examination for all these papers was conducted in multi-session mode. A suitable normalization method has been followed for these papers.
This year in GATE 2017, top three ranks secured till date are 1, 3 & 6 and we are still in the process of counting.
