MICAT - 2024
MICA, Ahmedabad, administered MICAT I on December 7, 2024. Due to a technical issue, the exam started almost two hours late.
The exam had three sections with a time duration of 135 minutes.
Section A: Psychometric Test
Section B: Descriptive Test
Section C: Aptitude Test with four sub-sections
1.Divergent & Convergent Thinking
2.Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
3.Verbal Ability
4.General Awareness
A total of 150 questions were asked in the Psychometric Test and four in the Descriptive Test. There was no negative marking in the Psychometric Test and the Descriptive Test. Test takers were instructed to attempt all the questions in this section. In case any question is left unattempted then it would result in zero marks for that question.
The Aptitude Test section had 70 questions with varying numbers of answer choices, some of the questions having eight choices. Candidates were required to answer these 70 questions in 80 minutes. The questions in this section carried 1 mark for each question and 0.25 for each incorrect response. There was no sectional time limit within the Aptitude test of the exam.

Section-wise Analysis
SECTION A - Psychometric Test
The psychometric test asked 150 questions. It tested a candidate’s personality traits and value system. Most of the questions in this section had 8 choices (as mentioned below), while the remaining few questions had "True" or "false" as choices.
The following eight options were available in the MCQ type of questions.

The word limit for each of the above 4 questions was 300 words. The candidates had to complete this section within 25 minutes.
SECTION C - Aptitude Section
This section has four subsections which contain 20 questions each. The total number of questions in this section was 70 and candidates were given a total of 80 minutes. The overall difficulty level of the section ranged from Moderate to Difficult.

Verbal Ability
While there were no noteworthy inclusions or exclusions in the Verbal part, a few questions, especially the Cloze test ones can be considered challenging as the number of options that a candidate had to choose from was 8 in number.
Juggling among them to narrow down to the best option may certainly have been both time-consuming and mind-boggling! There was one FIB that had idioms to choose from as fillers. Here too, the number of options may have made it tough to decide on the apt choice.
However, the choices weren't difficult per se.

Overall, this section was a notch more difficult than last year.
General Awareness
More than half of the questions in this section were about the business world. They included questions based on ad campaign slogans, company logos, brand ambassadors, mergers etc. The remaining questions dealt with economics, sports, etc. Overall, the questions can be classified as moderate-difficult.
Students who clear the Psychometric Test, secure an overall score of 28 (+/-)2 in Section C and fulfill the other criteria given by MICA can expect a call for the next round i.e., GE-PI round.
