State Bank of India (SBI) has announced its plan to recruit around 10,000 employees in the current financial year to address both general banking and technology needs.
The bank, having invested heavily in technology, aims to improve customer service and enhance digital resilience. According to SBI Chairman C S Setty, recruitment will focus on general banking and technology roles, including positions like data scientists and network operators.
By March 2024, SBI’s workforce totalled 2,32,296, with 1,10,116 officers. Setty emphasized continuous reskilling and upskilling of staff to meet evolving customer expectations and technological advancements. SBI also offers specialized training in niche areas to enhance the banking experience.
On the expansion front, SBI plans to open 600 new branches across the country, focusing on underserved residential areas. SBI, which currently serves 50 crore customers, aspires to further expand its clientele and position itself as the most valued bank for all stakeholders.
