Data Sufficiency:

Out of the 20 questions which appeared from Data Sufficiency, in Shift I, 16 questions were from Arithmetic and the remaining questions were Reasoning based whereas in Shift II, 13 questions were from Arithmetic topics and the rest were Reasoning questions.

In Quant, most of the questions are from Simple equations (six questions in shift 1 and five questions in shift 2) followed by questions from topics of Numbers and profit & loss. The remaining questions are from topics - Time & Distance, Percentages, Simple and Compound Interest etc.

Overall, the Data Sufficiency part of the exam can be rated as easy-moderate, with 80% of the questions considered as easy.

Data Analysis:

In shift 1 this part had two sets of Data Interpretation with five questions per set. In one set the data was presented in the form of a Pie diagram, and in another set, the data was presented in the form of a Table.

In shift 2 one set is based on the tabular data and the other was based on the Venn diagram.

This part of the exam was easy to moderate.

Reasoning: (Problem-Solving, Coding-Decoding and Date, Time, and Arrangement)

There were 43 and 44 questions respectively in shift I and shift II, which were related to Problem-Solving (Reasoning).

Continuing with the pattern followed in the last few ICETs, this year also there were twenty-five questions based on Series, Analogies and Odd Man Out. In shift 1, twelve questions were based on Series (nine on Number Series, three on letter series) and three on Analogies (one on Letter Analogy, one on Number Analogy and one on number and letter Analogy). In shift – 2, twelve questions were based on Series (nine on Number Series, three on letter Series) and three on Analogies (two on Letter Analogy and one on Number Analogy)

There were ten Odd Man Out questions in both the shifts, and most of the questions are from verbal Odd Man Out and the level of difficulty of these questions is easy to moderate.

In both shifts, there were six questions on 'Coding - Decoding' all of which were individual questions. No set-based questions were asked on this topic.

There were twelve and thirteen questions respectively in shift 1 and shift 2 from topics of Clocks and Calendars, Blood Relations, Symbols and Notations, Arrival & Departure and Seating Arrangement. All are easy.

The difficulty level of questions in both shifts is almost the same i.e., easy to moderate.

The following table gives the topic-wise break-up of questions in this section

Section B – Communication Ability

The English or communication ability section of the test can be termed a moderate scorer, with a total of 70 questions in each slot of the exam, of which 55 exclusively tested the contender’s skills in the standard use of the English language. Questions asked here assessed various aspects of vocabulary, functional grammar, and comprehension.

Reading Comprehension – Each shift had four passages with five questions each. The passages in shift 1 were related to education (lessons from cricket), sociology (ethics), philosophy (reinvigoration of man after sleep), and literature (innate poetic genius). The passages in Shift 2, were related to education (function of education), science (usage of science), story (reminiscence), and business (Indian business landscape). The passages were a bit difficult to comprehend, but a well-prepared aspirant would have glided past them in very little time. The questions in this section can be rated as easy to moderate.

Functional Grammar - Shift 1 had a total of seventeen questions, with thirteen questions filling in the blanks, three questions on speech, and one on voice. Shift 2 had a total of eighteen questions, with sixteen questions filling in the blanks, one on speech and one (new q type) on the transformation of sentences (degrees of comparison). The questions in this section can be rated as easy in terms of difficulty level.

Vocabulary - Shift 1 had eighteen questions, with fourteen as direct synonyms and four as filling in the blanks. Shift 2 had seventeen questions, with six as synonyms, one as an antonym, and ten as filling in the blanks. Barring a few (five in shift one and four in shift two), these questions can be rated easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level. Whittling down the choices through elimination would have helped an aspirant identify the correct answer.

Business Terminology:

Shift 1:

There were Seven BT Questions asked in this session. While the questions on Net worth, entrepreneur, form 16, and dividend were easy, the questions on Squaring the Circle, Country of Origin of SAP Software and President of NAASCOM were moderate.

Overall, the difficulty level of the questions in this session was easy to moderate.

Shift 2:

There were Ten BT Questions asked in this session. The Questions on Agenda, Grapevine, Dividend, CEO of NITI Aayog, and Cryptocurrency NPCI were easy. The Question on Scenario approach was of moderate difficulty level. The Question on Bounce rate was of moderate level but did not have an exact definition in the answer choice. The Question on Demonetisation was easy, but misspelt spelling in the paper can confuse. The question on Fair Trade was a bit difficult.

Overall, the difficulty level of the questions in this session was easy to moderate.

Computer Terminology:

Shift 1:

There were eight questions on computers in the session. Questions on the Cursor, smallest unit of data, full form of USB, and engine of a computer were easy, and the questions based on DFD, and White Hat Hacker can be rated as moderate.

Shift 2:

There were five questions on computers in the session. Questions on the full form of Wi-fi, Cloud storage and plotter were easy. Questions on Hour Glass is of moderate level of difficulty.

Overall, the questions on Computer Terminology were of easy level in both shifts.

Section C – Mathematical Ability

About 90% of the questions asked in this section were either easy or moderate. Most of the questions require conceptual understanding. Quite a few questions could be solved directly by using formulae.

The questions from the topics based on Arithmetic were easy.

In shift 1 in the Arithmetical Ability section, sixteen questions were from Algebraical and statistical ability, which is unlikely when compared to the previous year's exam.

Overall, the section on Mathematical Ability was easy to moderate.
