Railways has announced 9144 Technicians posts. The posts are of two categories.
- Technician Grade I Signal (Pay Level 5) - 1092 posts (Age : 18-36 Years as on 01.07.2024)
- Technician Grade III (Pay Level 2) - 8052 posts ( Age : 18-33 Years as on 01.07.2024)
(1) Important Dates:
Opening Date of Applications : 09.03.2024
Closing Date of application : 08.04.2024
Form modification window, along with payment of modification fee : 09.04.2024 to 18.04.2024
(2) Eligibility Criteria :
Age (as on 01.07.2024): 18-36 Years for Grade I Signal and 18-33 Years for Grade III
Educational Qualification : Please refer to the attached notification. For most of the posts, matriculation / SSLC + ITI from recognized institutions.
Candidates can choose only one RRB and indicate their preference for Railway Zones and posts/categories notified, for which the candidate is interested to apply and eligible, in that chosen RRB only.
(3) Recruitment Process:
The recruitment process shall comprise of the following stages:
(i) Computer Based Test (There will be seperate CBT for each Pay Level)
(ii) Document Verification (DV)
(iii) Medical Examination (ME)
(a) CBT for Technician Grade I Signal (Pay Level 5):
- Duration of CBT : 90 Minutes
- Negative Marking@1/3rd mark for each wrong answer
- Min pass % for eligibility : UR & EWS - 40%, OBC(NCL) & SC - 30%, ST - 25%

(b) CBT for Technician Grade III (Pay Level 2):
- Duration of CBT : 90 Minutes
- Negative Marking@1/3rd mark for each wrong answer
- Min pass % for eligibility : UR & EWS - 40%, OBC(NCL) & SC - 30%, ST - 25%
Syllabus for Technician Grade 3 is given below
(I) Mathematics Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
(II) General Intelligence and Reasoning Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
(III) General Science The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
(IV) General awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.
(4) Examination Fee :
(i) SC,ST, Ex-Ser, Female, TG, EBC, Minorities: Rs250 (This fee of Rs250 shall be refunded after deducting bank charges, on appearing in CBT)
(ii) For all others, except mentioned above: Rs500 (out of this, a fee of Rs400 shall be refunded after deducting bank charges, on appearing in CBT)
