The Indian Institute of Management (IIM-L) recently closed its final placements for students of the Post-Graduate Programme of the 2016-18 batch. It received 454 offers from 143 recruiters, including 47 new recruiters for a batch of 445 students.
The Pre-Placement Offers saw a 20% rise in the average number of offers received. Besides this, there was also a 30% increase in the number of job offers students received in the Higher Entry Placement Process (HEPP). Final placements also registered an increase by 220 offers this year.
Among the many recruiters in the HEPP category were the Aditya Birla Group, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, Amazon, Citi, Accenture, Flipkart, the Everest Group, Hinduja, Paytm, Yes Bank and Tredence Analytics.
Domain-wise roles offered: The domains that topped the charts of roles offered includedSales & Marketing (24%), Finance (23%), Consulting (23%), e-Commerce (12%), Systems/IT (7%) and General management (11%). Yet another feather in IIM Lucknow's cap this year was that there were many more offers this year from the giant management consulting and financial organizations.
FMCG: In the FMCG, consumer goods, telecom, digital media sectors, those firms that participated to make students job offers were Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, Nestle, Samsung, ABInBev, ITC, Dr. Reddy’s, Procter & Gamble, GSK, Reckitt Benckiser and others. Students received 150 offers in the FMCG, Consumer Goods, Telecom and Digital Media Sectors. Other roles offered to students included Supply Chain Management, Analytics, HR, Finance and IT. Some of these were exclusive roles for the institute.
BFSI: Several prominent international firms hired students of this sector for a variety of profiles. These were American Express, CRISIL, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Avendus Capital, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Kotak, DBS, o3 Capital and Societe Generale. Students were offered roles in Global Markets, Investment Banking, Retail Banking, Wholesale Banking, Trading and Operations, Corporate Banking, Market Research, etc. The coming of these companies to the IIM Lucknow campus was a feather in the institute's cap as it is now seen as a potential recruiting stop among the cream of recruiters.
Consulting: Participants of the placement drive in this domain included Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, The Boston Consulting Group, Alvarez & Marsal, Mckinsey & Company, PwC, Capgemini, EY, Arete Advisors, Feedback Infra, Mastercard and many others.
General Management: For students looking at placements in General Management, job offers came from the Aditya Birla Group (ABG), Tata Administrative Services, Airtel, Lodha Group, Hinduja and RPG.
IT/e-Commerce/Technology: Firms from these sectors included Amazon, Wipro, Flipkart, Paytm, OYO, Cloudtail and Uber. Apart from the conventional IT roles offered to students, this time they were also selected for jobs in category management, analytics, IT management, Systems management, supply chain management, business development, programme manager, product marketing, sales enablement and strategic alliances.
Supply Chain Management: Apart from all the traditional roles offered to students, this year recruiting firms also offered them roles in Supply Chain Management, Corporate Finance, IT and Analytics, some of them exclusively for the students of IIM Lucknow.
Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare: This year, IIM Lucknow reiterated its position as the No. 1 stop for the pharma and healthcare industries with prestigious firms such as Allergan, Cipla and Sanofi participating in the campus drive for the first time. Others in these sectors were Novartis and Dr. Reddy’s, who were seen recruiting in large numbers in functions such as General Management, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Market Research and Finance.
General Overview: A batch of 454 students were visited by 143 recruiters that included 47 new recruiting firms. Of the many domains they represented, Sales & Marketing made up the highest recruiting sector, with 24% offers, followed by Consulting and Finance.
IIM Lucknow Summer Placement: IIM Lucknow has also concluded its Summer Placements for the 2017-19 batch in record time. This year, it was proud to make a 100% placement of its batch of 459 students in 150 companies. The Summer Placement 2017 took place for the internships of Summer 2018. Based on the number of roles offered in each segment, the domain that offered the largest number of jobs was Sales & Marketing, followed by Finance, Consulting and Business Development.
With these astounding results, the institute not only broke its own record of last year, but it also raised the bar for placements in Indian B-schools. IIM Lucknow also completed its Summer Placements for the 2017-19 batch in record time. Its entire batch of 454 students received internships for the summer of 2018. The Finance profile registered a 50% increase in the number of offers made to students of this institute.
This has also proved to be good news for aspirants of CAT 2017 who seek admission in this prestigious institute. The Summer Placement of 2018 was also historic in marking the first time appearances of heavyweight recruiting companies in Finance, such as Investment Banking and Capital Markets, such as JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citi Markets and Merrill Lynch.
Institute's milestones: A historic win for the IIM Lucknow this year has been to place 100% of its largest batch of students in jobs during the Summer Placements. Yet another milestone has been to place all 100% summer placements of its 33rd batch comprising 454 students within record time. Over 150 domestic and international recruitment companies participated in the drive, showing up IIM Lucknow as a preferred recruitment destination for students of Consulting, Sales, Marketing and Finance roles all over the country.
Top Recruiters: The top recruiters across all domains were Accenture Strategy, Hindustan Unilever Limited, Amazon, P&G, Aditya Birla Group, McKinsey & Co., EY, A.T. Kearney, The Boston Consulting Group, Cipla, Deutsche Bank, TAS, ITC Limited, Uber, Mahindra & Mahindra and Vodafone.
First-Time Recruiters: For the first time,40 recruiters were present at the IIM Lucknow campus to participate in the Summer Placement. Some of these were Bajaj Auto, Shell, Capgemini, Allergan, Puma, Diageo, Sanofi, Mytrah, Exide industries Limited and United Phosphorous Limited. Those companies that offered students international jobs included Hindustan Unilever Limited, Deutsche Bank and AB InBev. Over 60% of companies present belonged to the Sales and Marketing, e-Commerce and Finance sectors while other sectors included IT, Media, Consulting, Systems and Automotive. The healthy economic upturn that the country faces now has helped this institute maintain its unique status as a No. 1 recruiting destination with 100% placements for its largest graduating batch.
