Section 3 : Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
The section had a mix of few easy and mostly moderate-difficult questions. There were quite a number of questions which were tricky and required a thorough understanding of concepts; few others required intensive calculations also.
The section was overall similar in difficulty level compared to last year’s Quant section. There were six questions from two DI sets. In one of the sets involving a Pie-chart, the data on two angles in the chart was missing. The other DI set was relatively time-consuming.
The topic wise break-up of the questions is as below:
Topics | No of Questions |
---|---|
Statistics | 1 |
Geometry & Mensuration | 6 |
Profit & Loss | 1 |
Coordinate Geometry | 2 |
Quadratic Equations | 1 |
Logarithms | 1 |
Indices and Surds | 1 |
Percentages | 1 |
Simple Interest – Compound Interest | 1 |
Inequalities | 1 |
Ratio, Proportion and Variation | 1 |
Numbers | 1 |
Data Sufficiency | 2 |
Miscellaneous | 1 |
Graduates, different cities (DI Set) | 3 |
Train travelling between different time zones (DI Set) | 3 |
Total | 27 |
With the section being very similar in terms of difficulty as compared to last year’s, the number of attempts is bound to remain nearly the same. An attempt of 18-20 with an accuracy of about 80% can be considered to be a good bet. The cut-off is expected to be 11-12 in this section.
