Psychometric tests are a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals' mental capabilities and behavioural style. Psychometric tests are designed to measure candidates' suitability for a role based on the required personality characteristics and aptitude (or cognitive abilities).
The selection process for PGDM-C and PGDM 2025-27 at MICA has three steps:
Step 1: Each candidate must have taken at least one of the three exams (MANDATORY): CAT/ XAT/GMAT (CAT 2024 / XAT 2025 / GMAT (2023 onwards).
Step 2: MICA Admission Test (MICAT).
All candidates are assessed on MICAT, which consists of 3 sections
Step 3: All the candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in CAT/XAT/GMAT & MICAT shall appear for both Group Exercise (GE) & Personal Interview (PI).
Merit List Preparation
Detailed below are the steps for preparation of the Final Merit List:
Section A (Psychometric test) is first checked. This section is a qualifier.
Those who qualify through section A, their relative performance on CAT/XAT/GMAT is considered. A minimum cut-off in CAT /XAT total percentile/GMAT score shall be considered (Best of the three scores is considered.)
Those who qualify based on the CAT/XAT/GMAT performance, their Section C (all sub-sections) of MICAT will be assessed.
Section C scores are normalized. The evaluation uses percentile and raw scores for each sub-section and requires a minimum cut-off.
Those who qualify through section C, their performance in Section B is evaluated. NOTE: Both Sections C & B have a sectional cut-off (percentile and raw scores).
Those who qualify through Steps 1, 2 and 3 will be considered for GE & PI short listing. Short listed candidates will be called for GE and PI at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata or Mumbai.
Candidates who appear in GE & PI MUST be RECOMMENDED by majority number of the interview panellists, to be considered for the final merit list
NOTE: All those who meet the criteria described above, their final composite score shall be created based on the following weightage:
Offer letters will be sent to candidates who feature in the final merit. If you do not accept the offer by the date mentioned in the offer letter, your name will automatically be removed from the merit list of the program.

As far as mathematics and DI is concerned, good preparation for CAT should be more than sufficient.
For Logical reasoning-based questions, it would be advisable for students to revise concepts pertaining to Puzzles, Number and Letter Series, Verbal Analogies, Coding and Decoding, Blood relations, Input/Output, Strengthening and weakening arguments, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
One needs to be thorough with all Analytical puzzles, Deductions, Connectives and cubes topics. The CAT students have received the reasoning study material - SM 1002205 and 2206 with solutions. These SMs have two exercises for each of these topics. SM1002207 provides practice exercises for Number and Letter Series, Verbal Analogies, Coding and Decoding, Blood relations, Input/Output, and non-verbal reasoning. There was a thorough discussion on each of these kinds of questions in Logic Basics classes (LRHO 1002201 to 03-Puzzles, LRHO1002207-Series, analogies and Coding & Decoding, LRHO1002208- Calendars, Blood relations, and Direction sense, LRHO1002213 - Input/Output and non-verbal, LRHO1001909 and 1910 - Deductions/Syllogism, LRHO1001911- Connectives and LRHO1001912- Cubes ), and in LRPEs, LWHOs & LATs.
Apart from this students also need to prepare for essay writing. The approach to tackle essay topics will be discussed in class with Writing Practice Exercise Tests
It is advised that students keep essay writing in mind when they do their reading comprehension exercises, focusing on expression of central idea, the idea flow, and the tools employed for effectively putting across ideas. A thorough awareness of social and political changes of the times will be an add on to present your case.
For preparation on General Awareness, in addition to reading newspapers regularly, it would be advisable for a student to prepare from the following sources:
In Manorama Year Book and CSR, please focus on the following chapters.
While preparing for this section, it would be advisable for students to focus more on issues related to business, economics and politics related to business environment.
Finally, OMET for MICAT and Sample MICAT paper ( available on MICA's website ) are perhaps the best source for preparation. They come very close to the actual MICAT entrance exam paper and one should give maximum importance to these question papers.
