Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)

FEB 2016 AFCAT (AIRFORCE COMMON ADMISSION TEST)

Indian Air Force has announced the dates for FEB 2016 AFCAT . The test will be held on 21st Feb 2016. Last date for applying online is 31st Dec 2015. There are three branches (within Air Force) for which a candidate can apply subject to satisfying the following eligibility criteria.

I) ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A) FLYING BRANCH

  • (SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION FOR MEN & WOMEN) - Tenure is 14 years

a) AGE: 20 to 24 years (as on 1st Jan 2017). Date of birth should be from 2nd jan 1993 to 01 Jan 1997 (Both inclusive).

b) Educational Qualifications: Graduate in any discipline (with at least 60% marks in all the papers put together). Candidate should, also, have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR Candidate should be a BE/B Tech (Four year Course)

c) Physical Standards: Min Height of 162.5 cm with corerelated weight, Leg length (99 com to 120 cm), Thigh Length (max 64 cm) and sitting height (from 81.5 cm to 96 cm)

B) TECHNICAL BRANCH.

  • (PERMANENT COMMISSION FOR MEN) - Till the age of superannuation

  • (SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION FOR MEN & WOMEN) -Tenure is 10 years (extensible by another 4 years)

Here candidates can apply for any of the two branches :-> Aeronautical (Electronics) OR Aeronautical (Mechanical)

a) AGE: 20 to 26 years (as on 1st Jan 2017). Date of birth should be from 2nd jan 1991 to 01 Jan 1997 (Both inclusive).

b) Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have a four year degree qualification and have scored at least 60% marks in all the papers put together.

c) Physical Standards: Min Height of 157.5 cm with corerelated weight.

C) GROUND DUTY BRANCH.

  • (PERMANENT COMMISSION FOR MEN)-Till the age of superannuation

  • (SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION FOR MEN & WOMEN) -Tenure is 10 years (extensible by another 4 years)

a) AGE: 20 to 26 years (as on 1st Jan 2017). Date of birth should be from 2nd jan 1991 to 01 Jan 1997 (Both inclusive).

b) Educational Qualifications: Here candidates can apply for any of the three branches :-> a) Administration & Logistics b) Accounts c) Education. Qualifications, for each of the three brances, are specified below.

Ground Duty Branch Qualification
Administration & Logistics Graduate (in any discipline) with min 60% marks

OR

Post Graduate in any degree with min 50% marks.



Accounts 		Graduate in Commerce with 60% marks

OR

Post Graduate in Commerce (Mcom/CA/ICWA) with min 50% marks.
Education Post Graduate degree in any discipline with min 50% marks

c) Physical Standards: Min Height of 157.5 cm (Men) and 152 cm (Women)

II) SELECTION PROCEDURE

Stage I: Written Test. The test is of 2 hrs duration. Questions will be from Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Awareness and Military Aptitude. A total of 100 questions will be asked. Each question carries 3 marks, while a negative marking of 1 mark is applicable. For those who have applied for technical branch, will have to appear for EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test) as well. This test is conducted just after AFCAT (on the same day) and will be admninistered for a time duration of 45 minutes.

Stage II: Interview (for those who clear Written Test) will be conducted by Air Force Selection Board at any of the following centres:->Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar, Varanasi or Kancharapara. The Interview is spread over a period of five days.

III) HOW TO APPLY

The mode of application is ONLY online. No fees is to be paid. A candidate will have to apply by logging in the website www.careerairforce.nic.in
