Section B : Decision Making

The Decision Making section continues to be a test of one's ability to critically analyse a given situation and apply logic, keen observation and common sense to problem solving. This section has been the key differentiator of XAT and measures up to the standards we have come to expect from the exam.

The questions on Bank of Bharat, Gastric Bypass Surgery, One question from the caselet on Construction company (Company should not try to address the personal problems), and one question from the set on year end performance review cycle (overheard a conversation) were easy and should have been solved. "The Big and Colourful Company" required assimilation of a lot of data, but the numbers to be handled were simple and should have been attempted as well. With these 4 more questions under the belt, one could have cleared the cutoff for the section. (8 questions for a 90 percentile)

The set on Island of growth was tricky and required very close observation.

"Head of nation in the Nordic region" set was very difficult owing to the nuances of the meaning of ethical behaviour and the role of media in a society, while the seemingly close options that the questions under "The end of performance cycle.... Natarajan and Varada Rajan" and "Marathe is a Vice President..." rendered them difficult.
