The IIMs have now confirmed that CAT will be a computer based test this year onwards. In a press release, they said that they have tied up with Prometric ETS to conduct the computer-assisted CAT.

The IIMs have said that the test will be conducted over a ten-day period towards the end of this calendar year. The IIMs assured that, while the CAT in its CBT format, will be comparable to tests like GMAT, GRE and TOEFL, it will be available to test-takers at a substantially lower cost.
